Bio-Works is looking for an organized and customer-focused Development Manager to join the development and specialized production team. The team develops projects that support the pipeline of new products and applications as well as provides technical insights for other parts of the business including sales, purchasing & production.

This role will be a full-time position based in our Uppsala, Sweden site. This role is partly office based and partly laboratory based. You will have the opportunity to bring together your communication and planning skills to find the best solutions for our customers. Bio-Works Development and Specialized Production team is part of our Products unit, delivering the technology and process capability needed to operate, maintain, and improve the manufacturing operations. The team consists of 4 dedicated associates who are responsible for applied research/engineering development.

How you will thrive and create an impact;

• Successful management of a small team of 3 scientists/engineers and 1 production technician by ensuring delivery of objectives

• Manage personnel, resources, and activities in the section to fulfil short- and long-term organizational goals and priorities.

• Development of agarose-based chromatography resins and other innovative new products including initial viability discussions, development of ligand coupling and QC methods, stability, and batch testing.

• Keep up to date with current analytical methods, as well as identifying possible future trends in separation science.

• Support manufacturing department with process development, technical data, and customer complaint investigation.

• Plan and execute production of specialized products to meet delivery commitments to customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A degree or equivalent in organic or polymer chemistry or industry related background

• Solid previous working experience within organic chemistry/synthesis (Chromatography resins).

• Strong theoretical and practical experience in areas of developing agarose-based resins is essential.

• Knowledge of analytical methods for characterization of chromatography resins (such as titration, ÄKTA systems, dry content analysis, UV spectroscopy, microscopy etc.) is required.

• Strong project management skills are necessary.

• Business proficiency in English and good knowledge of Swedish.

• Previous working experience in a lab is ideal.

• Leadership experience is desired.

• Administrative work (review technical documentation) experience is a plus.

• Design of experiment experience is advantageous.

• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or GMP is meritorious.
