About the role

We are building up a new department within the company, focussing on home energy solutions. As Head of development, you get to recruit and build up your own team of engineers from scratch and lead the product development within this specific field of our portfolio. This means taking ownership of the development process, including industrial design, mechanical engineering, and design engineering. You are also responsible for nurturing relevant partnerships to be able to deliver.

You will represent the organization to external parties and are the ambassador for the products in our portfolio. As a leader within our organization, you lead by example and contribute to a positive working environment while promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvements.

We seek somebody to lead and guide the team in day-to-day activities, driving project deliverables in collaboration with our PMO. Stakeholder management will be a crucial success factor, with multiple simultaneous initiatives running. Other responsibilities include:

• Build & manage prototype and lab capabilities

• Build & nurture strong relationships with our chosen development partners and suppliers

• Ensuring delivery complies with all product, technical, and market-specific requirements

• Ensure collaboration with product managers, technical architects, and the wider Product and technology team

• Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practice

What we would like you to have

Besides an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to deal with constant change, we would like you to have the following:

• 5 years of experience building & leading R&D teams

• Strong understanding of the product development process, industrial design, mechanical and electrical development

• Experience in vendor management with multiple external stakeholders

Qualities we would like you to have

• Exceptional communicative skills: the ability to motivate and inspire enthusiasm

• Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines

• Analytical skills to anticipate and resolve problems and the pragmatic attitude to pursue resolving actions

• An open mindset, enjoy working in a start-up environment with high ambition to scale fast

• Ability to build strong relationships with external partners and vendors

• Commitment, drive, but most of all collaborative mindset
