The School of Health and Welfare (HHJ) is one of four schools within Jönköping University.

The research at HHJ takes place in an interdisciplinary context. The research conducted at HHJ is characterised by interdisciplinary projects with the overall purpose of contributing to the formation of theories and improving methods and practices for the promotion, preservation and rehabilitation of individuals' health and well-being. The research is focused on five research environments and three centers, one of which is the Biomedical Platform, a nationally unique arena of biomedicine that includes the three actors; HHJ, Laboratory Medicine and Futurum in Region Jönköping County. A second platform is Centre for Oral Health. Oral Health is a cooperation between HHJ and the Institute for Postgraduate Dental Education in Jönköping.

OUR OFFER TO YOU

You will be manager of a faculty group of 38 colleagues within Natural Sciences and Biomedicine which consists of the subdisciplines Biomedical laboratory science, Oral health science and Radiography. As Head of Department you have personnel responsibility which include all types of matters related to leading and delegating tasks of quality assurance, educational planning, personnel planning, conduction performance reviews, salary etc. You will also be a full member of HHJ Leadership Team with a responsibility to work with our strategic priorities together with the Dean, the Associate Dean of Research, the Associate Dean of Education and the Chief Planning Officer. The position as Head of Department is part-time and time-limited for four years but is combined with a full-time permanent position at HHJ as an assistant professor, where teaching, research and cooperation within Jönköping University , as well as nationally and internationally, are included.

YOUR PROFILE

As Head of Department you need to have a PhD either in Biomedicine, Biomedical Laboratory Science, Oral Health, Radiology or equivalent. You also have previous working experience from academia, experience from leadership and management and particularly personnel responsibility. You have documented good scientific and educational ability, as well as ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary teams. Experience of teaching and supervision at undergraduate- and master level is particularly considered. Furthermore, you have great skills in communication and you understand the value of dialogue and cooperation with colleagues. We will put great value on your personal qualifications such as a high degree of integrity, social skills, ability to develop an inclusive environment and at the same time being comfortable with taking decisions. Since we operate within an international environment you need to be fluent in written and spoken Swedish and English.

INFORMATION

Starting date is as soon as possible. The position is a full-time permanent position as an Assistant professor with a four-year appointment as Head of Department. During the appointment as Head of Department, you work half-time as Head of Department and half-time as Assistant Professor.
