In Swedbank you have the opportunity to:

• Build and lead the Compliance Model Validation team primarily focused on the Financial Crime models.

• Be part of our compliance continuous maturity journey and take a leading role in supporting Group Compliance in its work around strengthening the tools to combat financial crime.


Drive and develop the methodology in model validation directed towards financial crime.


Plan and execute the model validation activities.


Drive high quality and value adding model validation result to drive effective and efficient model development and enhancement in 1LoD where the model ownership resides and to give input to the Financial Crime risk oversight within the Compliance Function.


Represent Group Compliance in various fora within the Group where relevant.

What is needed in this role:

• Academic credentials in business administration, banking and finance, economics, engineering, or similar subject. Formal education can be substituted with a substantial subject matter expertise on financial crime area (ACAMS certification is a plus, but not mandatory).

• Minimum 8 years of experience in Financial Crime risk area and a genuine interest in banking and financial economic crime prevention

• At least 3 years of relevant working experience as a Model Validator, Compliance (Risk) Officer, (Internal) Auditor or Audit Specialist, or Consultant in the financial sector.

• Vast experience from working with model development or model validation in financial institutions, financial consultancy, regulatory authorities and/or law/ firms.

• Knowledge in financial crime regulations and model risk management framework together with relevant skills in quantitative and qualitative model validation techniques.

• A passion for understanding and working with a large amount of data.

• Leadership capabilities is central where we particularly seek, - A humble attitude and a strong belief in cooperation, people person skills are highly valued

• A high degree of integrity as baseline to coach the team to deliver continuously unbiased model validation with high quality.

• A structured, curious, and creative mind.

• Excellent communication skills in both oral and written English

• Ready to enjoy working in an international environment and with teams based in multiple locations.

pick up the flag from our current Head of Compliance Model Validation within Group Compliance and continue to drive and develop the model validation work foremost in the Financial Crime risk area. The Compliance Model Validation team assesses the model risk from the aspects of model design and construction, model assumptions and limitations, data relevancy and completeness, and ongoing performance monitoring by promoting regulatory compliance, enhancing decision-making processes connected to the models in the centre piece. Hence, you will lead a team which proactively challenge the model owner in 1LoD and recommends improvements to further develop, maintain and monitor its models, focusing on whether these models adequately mitigate the compliance risk in scope.
