Main purpose of Role:
The Head of Regulation & Compliance is responsible for the compliance and regulatory structure of Sirius International and its branch offices located in Bermuda, Hamburg, Zurich, Liege, London and Singapore. The Head of Regulation & Compliance is responsible for the leadership and ongoing development of the compliance and regulation activities of the business.
They have full responsibility for working with all departments and business functions on the regulatory and compliance frameworks with a focus on consistency, compliance and effectiveness as well as supporting the Group compliance program, the Group business strategy, and local regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
To take on overall responsibility for the Compliance framework of Sirius International and its branch officers. In particular:
• to oversee the development of the Compliance Framework and ensure that it meets the requirements of the regulators, including but not limited to, the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (SFSA)
• to be the Senior Nominated Person for Solvency II requirements
To proactively identify changes to the regulatory environment of the business and coordinate the delivery of resulting regulatory change initiatives
To oversee that policies, procedures and training are compliant, fit for purpose and reflect current regulatory requirements
To take responsibility for the delivery of other strategic business projects from a Regulation and Compliance point of view as required
To act when relevant as the Risk Owner and Control Owner of compliance risks and controls. This includes ensuring that definitions and ratings are appropriate; monitoring the issues against agreed appetite/tolerances; escalating risk events/control failures and taking appropriate actions to address matters arising from these events or risks
To work with the Group Compliance Officer and to ensure the delivery of effective service and management information that succinctly explains performance, plans, risks and issues
To help build and maintain a high compliance performance culture through effective performance management, communication, teamwork and training
Oversee the compliance issues of the SINT's branch offices in Bermuda, London, Liege, Zurich, Hamburg & Singapore
Manage Junior Compliance Officers
Fulfill the responsibilities of a data protection officer
Any other duties as reasonably required.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the right blend of technical knowledge, leadership, and communication skills that are required to thrive in this position.
Significant previous experience in a regulatory and compliance role is essential
Significant experience in a global compliance function reporting to group on a variety of compliance matters, including GDPR, AML, anti-corruption and sanctions, among other compliance matters
Previous insurance/reinsurance technical experience desirable
Ability to demonstrate sound knowledge of SFSA's regulatory requirements
Excellent communication skills
Natural leader and motivator of people
Previous people management experience
Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
Fluent in English on a "negotiation level"
Masters of Law or an equivalent University degree
