Business Division Asset Development runs major development projects and research and development initiatives in Vattenfall. Our mission is to safely deliver the right projects on time, within budget and according to specifications. Our task is to ensure consistent portfolio management, development of benchmark project skills and control, as well as increased efficiency of R&D. We consist of 5 Business Units, Engineering (Engineers grouped by competence, deployed in projects in BD Asset Development and in the other BD's) R&D projects: (responsible for identifying, developing and implementing value adding technical solutions) Thermal projects (development and execution of Moorburg, Magnum, Twingo and other Thermal projects), Nuclear and hydro projects (responsible for development and planning of large projects for Nuclear and Hydro as well as all new build initiatives) and Project Governance & Improvement (responsible for Project assurance, Project economics and project performance improvement within Asset Development and other BD.) We are approx 2000 employees located mainly in Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands. PG&I (Project Governance and Improvement) within this context will be the competence centre for management of projects with a group wide responsibility for project related processes. We will develop uniform project management- and work processes to enhance project performances and allow better development and deployment possibilities of project resources.
Head of Competence and Skills Development We are now looking for a Head of Competence and Skills. You will reside in the Project Performance Improvement unit of PG&I and take charge of managing all project staff competence, skills and expertise development in the Group. Initial scope of work is limited to staff in Asset Development but expectations are that the program will be rolled out during 2012 across all project management practitioners in the Group.
Job description and responsibilities
• Assess both business required- and available competencies in the project management community of Asset Development
• Develop and introduce mitigation measures to close the gap of competency limitations through, e.g. training schemes, mentoring & coaching programs
• Provide support to the creation of a Project Management skill pool to enhance effective staff development and deployment and identification of additional recruitment measures.
• All above activities are performed in close liaison with HRM functions
• Management of your own team of employees
• Actively participate in the creation of PG&I
The Operating Unit will consist of some 3 members, including this position, which is expected to drive the developed competence program across Vattenfall, support the project communities where required and adjust systems and tools where needed. You report to the Manager of Project Performance Improvement
Qualifications
• Academic degree within a relevant area
• Project management competence and experience
• Very good understanding of and preferably personal experience from working within several parts of the energy sector * Management experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• A project manager certification from IPMA is considered a merit We are looking for an individual with * Structured working methods and a strategic focus * High intra-personal skills and good communication skills listening skills combined with courage and integrity
• Experience from cross border initiatives and projects
• A wish and skill to be a team player in an international team
• Performance orientation, willingness to learn about new businesses, and an open mind
