Responsibilities include:

Collaborate with owners to align kitchen operations with the overarching goals of the Roo & Elk.
Plan menus and set prices in collaboration with the owners.
Manage an efficient & effective operation, including food preparation, cooking & clean up.
Resolve customer issues as they arise in line with the Customer Service Policy & so they always receive their orders in a timely manner.
Make sure all kitchen & wait staff adhere to food safety & hygiene regulations.
Build a good working relationship with suppliers.
Inspect raw and cooked food items to guarantee that the highest quality products are prepared & served to customers.
Manage quality and control of weekly orders and monthly inventory.
Be a part of the recruitment and training teams for chefs, cooks and kitchen staff.
Maintain kitchen equipment; schedule repairs and additional maintenance as needed.

We are looking for a qualified, experienced and creative head chef to help us bring to life our vision of creating a destination where guests can have an authentic Australian experience that is renowned throughout Scandinavia.

Working closely with the owners to construct menus that represent Australian pub cuisine with an innovative flare and a nod to Swedish culinary traditions. Sourcing and using top quality local and Australian products while meeting food costing budgets. You will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the kitchen, including ordering, staffing and quality control.

Up-to-date with Australian and international culinary trends
You speak fluent English, big plus if it is of the Aussie persuasion and if you can speak Swedish that's a bonus!

Requirements:

Minimum 5 years' experience as a chef
Outstanding communication and leadership skills
Proven ability to manage a kitchen, delegate responsibilities and monitor progress
Good understanding of useful computer programs (Email, MS Word, MS Excel, restaurant management software, POS)
Willing to be an active part of the brand including social media and advertising

Qualifications:

Certificate III in Commercial Cookery/Restaurang- och livsmedelsprogrammet or equivalent
Credentials in health and safety
STAD Ansvarsfull Alkoholservering or willingness to attain (at a minimum, good knowledge of Swedish Responsible Service of Alcohol laws)

Opening soon, the Roo & Elk is a place where our customers will enjoy the best of Australian hospitality and sample the tastes of Australia through our fantastic food.

Our dishes, created from local and Australian products will showcase our diverse culinary traditions, complemented by the finest Australian wine and beer. There'll even be some tasty non-alcoholic Australian alternatives!

Plus we'll be blending Australia's coffee culture with Swedish 'fika'. It's a totally unique combination, there's nothing else like it in Sweden...scratch that, there's nothing else like it in the world!
