We are looking to bring in a high impact leader for our engineering team to build out a centre of excellence for PayPal's global in-store commerce offering. In this exceptional leadership opportunity, you will lead a 300+ strong tech teams (currently across three different locations: Stockholm (Sweden), Edinburgh (UK), San Jose (USA), with engineers building web/mobile apps, APIs, and hardware products. You will drive technology alignment and engineering excellence across the Zettle tech teams. We are looking for a dynamic leader that is both technically sophisticated and that has an ability to develop and scale tech teams. You should have a proven track record of navigating the complexities of a global organization distributed across multiple geographies and operating entities. This role will work across Zettle and PayPal teams and will partner with other functions, e.g. Product, Design, Sales, Legal, Security and Risk. In addition to leading world-class tech teams, you'll influence product and technical strategies and help us deliver value to our customers and small business owners.

As Head of Engineering for Zettle, you will:
Develop strategic planning in partnership with Product and Design leaders and set the direction and control of product development activities.
Create and foster a culture of innovation, product excellence, and consistently strong execution
Lead and own product development cycle to reduce time to market, product quality, and ensure product success
Maintain a well-functioning tech management team, with tech managers as direct reports, and ensuring we attract, retain and develop top talent within the development area.

We believe a successful candidate has the below background and personal traits:
Deep expertise in software engineering and systems architecture, with the ability to participate in code reviews. Extensive knowledge and experience of best practices within the trade.
Visionary communication skills with strong leadership capabilities and a people first approach to management.
Proven track record of encouraging and promoting excellent engineering practices whilst fostering a culture of warmth and conviviality within the team.
