What will you be doing?
The Global Technology Managers (GTM) are the backbone of the technology development at Volvo Autonomous Solutions. They work on both strategic and operational level in an international and multicultural environment. The GTM Environment will report to the Head of Autonomous Driving (AD) Development and be part of the AD Development Management team. This is a business-critical role which will be instrumental in establishing new state-of-the-art engineering practices at one of the most exciting times in the rapid evolution of the commercial vehicles industry.
The Environment domain today consists of two functions, Perception and Localization, and is growing. You will lead the Environment domain together with the group managers for each function. The development scope includes some of the most interesting and challenging building blocks of the automated driving system e.g. perception, localization, sensors, and computational nodes.
Our teams are at the core of everything we do, and we believe it's the most effective way to address the challenges of autonomous driving SW. Creating the right environment for the teams to flourish is crucial. Therefore, we want you to serve as a role model of the culture and the values within Volvo Autonomous Solutions.
As GTM Environment you will:
Lead the work to define roadmap and objectives for the Environment domain together with your management team
Partner with industry leaders on sensors and architecture
Have the responsibility for project deliveries and budget
Be a member in the AD Development management team and provide clear summaries and recommendations to our executive leadership team
Stay on top of industry and academic trends in the perception and localization area
Ensure engineering best practices are followed and that the strong safety culture within V.A.S product development is continuously improved
Serve as a role model of the culture and the values within Volvo Autonomous Solutions
Who are you?
You have both hands-on and managerial experience within software development and preferably from areas related to perception or localization.
You demonstrate a clear vision, a global mindset, and you have a proven track record of successfully developing people and technology. Facing challenges that do not always have clear solutions or outcomes is part of the work and our leadership style is characterized by managerial courage. We believe you are a leader with interest to engage and motivate others making the most of teams and individual talents, as this job is all about collaboration you need to be a good listener and communicator. You share our positive spirit and curiosity about people and new technology. Our working environment is highly international and hence you need to be proficient in English, both written and spoken.
Knowledge of sensors e.g., lidar, camera, radar, and high-performance computational nodes are beneficial. However, we believe your potential, personality, and mindset to gain these capabilities is more important than having them today.
