Group Manager - Mine Planning Malmberget
Would you like to be a part of our transformation towards a top-performing underground mine?
The Malmberget mine is an underground iron ore mine that utilizes large-scale sublevel caving at more than 1000 meters depth in a seismically active rockmass. The mine is located in the north of Sweden close to the town of Gällivare. We are currently in a transformation phase where we challenge our workflows and methods in order to prepare ourselves for mining at even greater depths.
We are searching for a group manager for our mine planning team that currently consists of 11 engineers within production planning, layout design, drill- and blast, rock mechanics, mine ventilation and other fields. The team is part of our mine planning section that also consists of teams within geology, rock mechanics and mine surveying. We are currently developing our workflows and are moving to Deswik as our mine planning software. Over the next years, a lot of focus will be on improving the information in our production plans, reconciliation, plan compliance and increased predictability of the rock stability underground.
As the group manager for mine planning, you will be responsible for the team working with, among other:
The life-of-mine planning (LoMP) work for the mine
Production plans for the mine on long-to short-term
Layout design
Production drill designs
Surface stability
Mine ventilation
Deswik usage and development
As for your qualifications, you need good leadership qualities and the ability to communicate and cooperate with other persons and teams in the organization. You should have experience from mine planning, preferably in combination with experience from geology, rock mechanics or other production environments. In addition you should have a university degree in one of these fields or a related and relevant field. A driver license is mandatory for working in the mine.
Personal qualities needed for this position are a structured way of handling challenges, social skills and an open mind for changes and new ideas. Since most information is only available in Swedish, you must be able to read and communicate well in both Swedish as well as English.
