Mälardalen International School (MISV) is in an expansive phase of development, and our student numbers are growing like never before. We need employees who are committed to making an active contribution to the development of our international school.
Northvolt and Hitachi Energy are two of the leading companies in the green revolution. They also co founded MISV and contributes a lot to our school through interesting collaborations. In January 2022 we opened in the heart of Finnslätten, Västerås as the first IB school in the region.
Mälardalen International School is a warm, friendly and welcoming school. We are truly international in many senses. There are 27 different nationalities and backgrounds represented amongst our current 76 students. We also strive to employ a diverse community of teachers. Description of Position:
For your role as a Swedish teacher, you will teach both PYP and MYP classes (students age 5 - 16 years). You will work alongside your colleagues and undertake all teaching responsibilities as outlined by the IB curriculum documents as well as aligning with Lgr22 and Mälardalen International School. Your language of instruction is Swedish and English; therefore, the applicant must have a good command of both spoken languages.
Qualifications:
We are looking for a teacher with a growth mindset, who is a true lifelong learner. We are looking for someone who is humble, innovative and playful, who would support your colleagues when you try new strategies together. We are looking for someone who has the students best interest at heart and is excellent at building a good rapport with students.
The position is a full-time position and the teaching schedule is Monday-Friday. It is a substitute position for the spring semester of 2024 with the possibility of a permanent position in grade 6-9 (MYP) in August 2024.
Responsibilities
- Plan and document high quality learning experiences for students
- Maintain an engaging and organized learning environment
- Participate and contribute to the planning with the team and PYP + MYP coordinators
- Participate in school activities (assemblies, evening events, conferences, etc.)
- Maintain ongoing parent/school communication regarding students' development
- Continued professional development
Requirements:
- Certified teacher with a degree in Swedish and/ or Swedish as an additional language for grades 7-9 or F-6.
- Fluency in written and spoken English
Other qualifications may also include:
- PYP and/or MYP or IB training and/or experience
- Strong IT competence with educational ICT tools
• Fixed term employment January-June 2024
• Start date: January 8 2024
