We are involved in all stages of the technology development, from applied research to industrialization.
We are looking for a group manager for the group Applied Mechanics an Surface engineering, 6330. The vision of the group is to support the Volvo group in the innovation and development of safer and more efficient vehicle and powertrain systems.
The group works in the two areas:
Applied Mechanics
This area deals with the evaluation and evolution of structural properties of a vehicle design, existing or proposed.
Noise and Vibration
Vehicle thermal management
Passive safety and Crashworthiness
Light weight and Optimised structures
Vehicle and multibody dynamics
Surface engineering and analysis
The area focuses on the dynamic parts of the driveline. With increased customer demands regarding fuel economy, reliability, noise comfort and long service intervals. The main competence areas:
Tribology with focus on engine and transmission tribology
Surface engineering ( Surface coatings and modifications for wear and friction control)
The work is mainly carried out in projects together with Volvo Group companies and in national and international consortia. It is achieved by the use and development of advanced simulation and experimental methods.
You are responsible for defining the vision and strategy for the area along with our colleagues and team members at Volvo Technology. You are responsible for selling new projects, project deliveries, project follow up. Competence and method development are important parts of your work. The group size is approximately 15 empl. with a mix in age and educational background - MSc and PhD degrees.
You will be a member of the departments? management team and actively contribute to the management and development of the department. You will also work in close collaboration with other parts of the VTEC organisation

Qualifications:
Masters degree or higher in mech. eng. or equivalent
Managerial experience (preferably within R&D), min 2 years
Experience from research or product development of complex mechanical systems
preferably vehicle and/or powertrain systems
Good communication skills
Fluency in English
