At the forefront of Research and Development in the automotive industry, Volvo Group Truck Technology (GTT) offers you the opportunity to become the manager of our team in charge of software and algorithm development for Traffic Situation Management for Automated Vehicle. This team belongs to the Vehicle Automation department with the responsibility of leading the development of Vehicle Automation and Active Safety systems for the full life-cycle enabling tomorrow's trucks. Vehicle Automation is a part of Vehicle Engineering responsible for developing vehicle components and systems for the Truck brands within the Volvo Group. You will work in close cooperation with other parties within the GTT organization, as well as world class industrial players and academia.
Your mission:
Your mission as a manager for Traffic Situation Management - Automation is to coach and challenge a team of 15 driven engineers to secure the value in our deliveries and to build an innovative work environment. Your team's main responsibility is to take the product ownership over time for Traffic Situation Management (SAE level 3-5) including research, concept studies, industrialization and maintenance. Safety is a significant part of Volvo DNA and Automated Driving is a major contributor to traffic safety.
The technical scope for your group's responsibility is to develop software and algorithms that take care of the immediate traffic situation the automated truck is in.
Predict future states for both the ego vehicle and surrounding traffic
Decide which action the truck should take
Create the path that executes the decision and control the truck to follow the planned path
Traffic Situation Management is part of the Automated Driving stack and you will work in close cooperation with your colleagues at Vehicle Automation to secure the performance of the full stack.
Leading teams of highly skilled engineers at Vehicle Automation requires a strong background in SW engineering. It is your task to constantly challenge the teams to improve the current way of working and to be at the forefront of software engineering practices.
As a member of our management team you will also contribute to the strategic work at the Vehicle Automation department.
