Group Manager Exhaust System

At RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers around the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. As GROUP MANAGER EXHAUST SYSTEM within the section Exhaust & Cooling System you will have a very important strategic role in the future development of the Exhaust team to reach a premium sound characteristic and to influence in the styling of the visible exhaust end pipes.
The group Exhaust System includes 15 persons and is responsible for development of the Exhaust System, after the catalyst, and for the installation in the vehicle. Our assignment is to reduce/develop the exhaust noise/sound and to maximize the engine performance with as low pressure drop as possible. At the same time all properties as noise, strength, corrosion, styling, crash requirements, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, ground clearance, manufacturing and serviceability should be fulfilled. Complex geometries and packaging together with legal requirements characterize our day. The development work is done in close cooperation with suppliers and with help of a wide span of contacts within Volvo Cars. Your main assignments are to lead and develop the members in the group and together with your team and the suppliers you will create system- and component solutions that fulfil all design requirements and properties.

Job profile:

• You have the responsibility for the staff within the group which means responsibility for work planning, competence development and recruitment
• You have the responsibility for the complete chain from prerequisites, strategies, concept development and implementation in the vehicle projects and further on follow up of quality and warranty in the field
• You have the responsibility to create the best possible technology which gives cost effective solutions together with the suppliers
• You have the responsibility to yearly lead the cross functional work with CBP (Commodity Business Plan) Exhaust System

Your profile:

• You have a great interest in engineering, preferably from new development
• You have former experience from leading teams and inspire people to grow
• You are structured in your work with a leading spirit and an enterprising mind
• You have a strong ability to deliver with high technical skills.
• Your mindset is open with a good analytical ability
• You have minimum a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
