Group Manager Environment Attribute

The department Environment & Fluid Dynamics Centre works with attributes areas Aero, Contamination, Environment, Fuel Economy, Thermo and Weight. The department has the mission to strengthen the brand by leading the R&D work to develop environmentally sustainable cars in support of Volvo car's core value Environment and delivering robust cars in support of core value Quality.

As Group Manager for Attribute Environment you will lead a group of 8 highly knowledgeable, experienced and dedicated people with overall responsibility for the Environment attribute area within Research and Development. The group's deliveries range from cycle plan input, technical input into the design process. The responsibilities include development of next generation environmental strategy, building strategic external cooperation, documentation for homologation and certification activities, as well as ensuring legal compliance and assessing environmental impact, and setting requirements cross programs and advanced engineering projects. Other responsibilities are to manage substances and materials when it comes to interior environment quality, sustainable materials, recycling and recyclability.
This management position will enable you to use your interpersonal skills, intelligence, communication capability and creativity to build a strong and self-confident team supporting Volvo Car Group's core value Environment.

Main responsibilities

• Lead and develop a strong environmental team with a clear focus on company benefit and end customer
• Create development opportunity for every team member and facilitate the work and communication
• Establish the group's long-term competence development
• Together with subject matter experts continually develop strategy for the area of environmental impact
• Secure the department's deliveries and develop improved and more efficient methods to meet shorter future program timing
• Plan long and short-term activities
• Recruit and develop key competence
• Lead and report the daily operational work
• Secure cooperation and common use of resources between Engineering in Gothenburg and in China
• Actively participate in the department's management group

Required qualifications

• Documented experience of line or project management
• High communicational skills
• Strategic mindset
• Genuine interest in environmental questions
• Proven leadership capabilities
• Degree in Master of Science or through experience gained knowledge with orientation towards environment / chemistry/materials
• Driver's license
• Experience from environmental related questions is meritorious
• Wide contact network within automotive and/or academia is meritorious
• Previous experience from data base handling is meritorious
