Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.Scania has decided to establish a third industrial hub in China with the capacity to produce some 50 000 vehicles per year. Alongside building a new factory and an expansion of the sales network we will also establish an R&D organisation. Our mission in R&D Industrial Operations Asia is to adapt trucks for the Chinese market, the biggest commercial vehicle market in the world.

The work will be carried out by a dedicated organisation - which will develop and manage the products over time. We are building the organisation simultaneously as we develop the product. We are now looking for a Group manager that can help us grow with speed. The starting point for the powertrain is the Scania platform. However, to be successful in the Chinese market we have to adapt the premium powertrain to meet the challenging product cost target for the Chines customers.

Your team and work assignments
You will be responsible for a team managing the concept development for the powertrain. To reach the cost target, existing performance steps in the modular toolbox need to be combined but also new performance steps need to be created. The new performance steps of more advanced carsterictics, that influence sub-systems or have a high integration between hardware and software, are developed by the team. When the concept is proven, the responsibility for industrialisation is handed over to colleagues in China.

As part of the work, the team will be acting as a bridge between the R&D functions in Södertälje and the R&D functions in China.

Today powertrain is defined as the engine, afterthretment, and gearbox. In the future, it might also include BEV powertrain/systems like battery, propulsion units, high voltage components, etc.

As a group manager, you will be responsible for recruiting and establishing a team with the right competence and profiles to succeed with your tasks. You will actively lead the work, together with the group's experts. You develop and promote the group's cross-functional contacts within Traton.

Your profile
Do you like to achieve 80% of the performance in 20% of the time and work in an environment where you need to be creative and have room for trying your ideas? Then this job could be something for you. Do you also have experience in performance development where hardware design meets control strategies and software development it could be a perfect match.

You have solid experience leading development teams within powertrain development, preferably from different departments. You enjoy working in an international and inclusive environment. Since you will have contact with Chinese employees it is important that you feel comfortable in both written and spoken English. You take initiative and live by the management principle "dare to try, manage the risk" even if the road ahead is unknown. You are a confident leader with good interpersonal skills and you have the ability to manage an organisation, even when processes and the way of working are not in place, and build up the right structure for the team members. But most important of all, you feel excited about taking on new challenges and working against clear top-level goals together with us at Powertrain Development Industrial Operations Asia!

You have:
A university degree
Experience from previous leadership positions, 2-5 years
Worked with product development within R&D / trucks

Merit:
Scania experience or equivalent.

Your location
Today our offices are located in Södertälje. There will be possibilities for both Long term and Short term assignments depending on your role and your situation.
