We have an opening for a Group Head position within Measure and Analytical Science (MAS) department. The department is a part of SBu Surface Cehmistry EMEIA R&DI organization in Stenungsund, Sweden and mainly supports AkzoNobel?s Stenungsund activities and has a key function for product development as well as for production.
As a Group Head you will manage the Analytical lab with responsiblity to maintain and develop a high level of expertise within analytical chemistry, Surface Chemistry products and saftey. As Group Head Analytics you will play a key role in communication with internal and external customers such as project leaders within Global R&D, section managers within Technical Service AkzoNobel Expertise groups.
Your main responsibilities will include:
• Coach and manage the team: plan and carry out performance reviews incl. setting departments and individual objectives, clarify the steps needed to reach the targets.
• Plan and ensure timeliness and quality of the work within the department.
• Ensure that the operation is carried out according to HSE&S and labor laws & regulation, the AkzoNobel corporate directives and standards and according to internal policies and procedures
• Contribute with specialist competence for analytical issues within and outside AkzoNobel, facilitate know-how transfer between Expertise groups and other departments within AkzoNobel
Candidate profile
We are looking for an individual with a Licentiate/PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or related field and 3-4 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, M.Sc. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or related field and additional education in the specific field and >5 years of relevant working experience.
To be successful in this position you have genuine interest in coaching others and have an ambition to pursue your career as people manager. You have excellent skills in several of the following areas; chromatography, spectroscopy (NMR, IR, MS), wet chemical analysis, surface chemistry analysis and validation/statistics.
On a personal level you are proactive, able to prioritise and enjoy working towards continues improvements.You have good communication and interpersonal skills, are fluent in English, both written and spoken since you will be working in international working environment.
