Group Design Leader Seatbelt system - Restraints

Interior Engineering consists of four sections with 45 to 100 employees, each focused on delivering world class interiors for our future cars. We are responsible for all product documents defining the interior of the car. We develop the instrument panel, tunnel console, door panel and interior trim in-house with our engineers. In the areas of seating and restraints, we use Design & Development as suppliers and they develop the systems with our guidance. We are responsible for all phases of the development, i.e. annual work, advanced engineering, concept development, industrialization, quality and cost reduction. Attributes connected to Interior Engineering are seating comfort and interior illumination. We work in a cross-functional work process with Purchasing, Design, Manufacturing, Product Planning and, of course, the other development units within R&D. The interior of the car is where you create a state of wellbeing, excellent customer satisfaction and a motivation to buy a Volvo again!

The section Restraints, are divided in four groups; Program Execution, Seatbelt & Child Safety, Side- Rear- & Rollover Restraints and Steering Wheels & Frontal Airbag. All together we are today about 50 persons. The group Seatbelts and Child Safety today includes 13 persons. We are responsible for the development of seat belt systems and child safety products.
As Group Design Leader (GDL) within the group Seatbelt & Child Safety you are responsible for the in-time delivery of the Seat Belt systems solutions across the car, which are delivered by the supplier as a result of well performed specifications developed in collaboration with different attribute areas, purchase, manufacturing engineers, system responsible, responsible for surrounding system, etc.
You will establish and develop relationships with representatives from many areas of the vehicle meaning you will build and maintain a wide personal network within Volvo Cars.

Main responsibilities

* Develop the design and manage the assignment with a cross-functional team and secure deliveries and results
* Responsible to create assignment time plans which meet the overall project plan
* Responsible for budget and cost
* Report the assignment status and decisions to Section Program Leader (SPL) and Line management

Required qualifications

* Bachelor or Master of Science engineer or similar
* Skilled PC user and large experience of MS Office, Lotus Notes and KDP
* Good knowledge in English and Swedish (spoken/written)
* Driver's license (B)
* Experience of working with safety restraint products is an advantage
* Experience of working as task leader or lead engineer within the automotive industry is an advantage
