The section Air Induction & Powertrain Mounts within the department Powertrain Installation consists of around 50 persons and is divided into 3 groups. Two technical groups: one for Powertrain Mounts and one for Air Induction system. The third group is Project management, which is a group consisting of System Project Leaders for both technical areas. This position is within the Air Induction System. The AIS group consists of 15 men and women. We are of different ages, background and experience. The main purpose of the system is to clean and transport air to the combustion chamber within the ICE - Internal Combustion Engine. Other important attributes that have to be considered when designing the system is to reduce noise, inhibit snow and water intrusion and keep low pressure in the given design area. Our components are designed as Build to Print and we are developing dirty side ducts, air cleaners, clean side ducts and charge air ducts. We are now looking for a Group Design Leader.
As Group Design Leader you will be working in projects in the industrialisation phase. You will coordinate and lead a team of design engineers to reach the technical objectives and secure the deliveries within the given time and cost frames. You will have close contact with other areas within R&D, purchase, manufacturing and suppliers. Our components are designed as Build to Print. This position reports to the System Projects Leaders (SPL) and Group Manager.
Main responsibilities
• Together with the design team, develop technical solutions and documentation that describes the system and components
• Initiate and assure that corrective actions are carried out when deviations occurs
• Set up, manage and follow up the component development time plans
• Communicate the status and forecast for the project to our SPLs and line organisation
• Ordering of test objects, soft tools and bought assignments
• Responsible for time, cost and technique for the components
Required qualifications
• B.Sc. in Mech. Engineering or equivalent based on work experience
• Good knowledge and at least 5 years' experience of product development, preferable within the automotive area
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written
• Driver's licence, Level B
• Good knowledge in Volvo Car's processes and systems is meritorious
• Experience from design of metal and/or plastic components is meritorious
• Knowledge of Catia V5 is also meritorious
