Outline and Purpose of Role
Etiopienfonden was established in Sweden in 2004 and has the well established Ethiopiaid UK as a sister organisation and business model. The charity, which is a member of Stiftelsen för Insamlingskontroll and has a 90 account, was founded by Alec Reed in 1989. Rather than sending European aid workers over to Ethiopia to run projects on our behalf, we raise money for well-established local charities run by Ethiopians. We currently support eight different partner projects in Ethiopia, spanning our core areas of health, education and poverty reduction.
We are now looking to appoint a competent graduate to manage operations in Sweden and grow the charity beyond the start-up phase. The role would be ideally suited to somebody who has recently graduated from University. Ethiopiaid Sweden is run along the same lines as Ethiopiaid UK and fundraises primarily through direct mail. The candidate must be willing to work proactively on his or her own initiative to develop this exciting role.
Key Accountabilities
You will be responsible for the management of all fundraising activities for Ethiopiaid Sweden, with particular focus on growing the database and increasing our fundraising income. Tasks will include, but not be limited to:
• Planning and co-ordination of printing and mailing activities
• Management of supplier and project relations
• Handling donor correspondence and telephone queries
• Generating PR coverage
• Updating the Etiopienfonden website
• Donor database management
• Financial administration and co-ordination
• Providing weekly progress reports and monthly trustee reports
• Liaising with the Charities Manager (based in UK) and the UK and Ireland managers
The role will be based in Stockholm for one year. It is also likely that there will be an opportunity for the successful candidate to visit our partner projects in Ethiopia. If the successful candidate is interested there should also be an opportunity to join the Reed graduate training programme in the UK at the end of the year contract (www.reed.co.uk).
