The scope covers complete powertrain systems, components such as engines, transmissions and driven axles, including development, manufacturing, sourcing, partnership, installation service and support in close co-operation with the customers. Volvo Powertrain has operations in Sweden, France, Spain, North and South America and Japan.
The position is organised under Volvo Powertrain, Combustion systems, Air & Gas management systems. The group today, 13 in size, is responsible for product development, product maintenance and advanced engineering, of air and gas related systems and components at the engine such as EGR (Exhaust gas recirculation) , Gas Exchange, Turbo Charging and Volvo Engine Braking. The work is carried out in close cooperation with colleagues in Gothenburg, Lyon, Hagerstown, Curitiba and Ageo and also with global suppliers.
Work description:
Design and develop EGR systems incl. EGR components. Develop EGR system strategies in order to reach commonality among engine versions and sizes (11 l, 13 l and 16 l) and to reach required features
Qualifications:
Master of science in engineering and at least 5 years of experience from Engine Development
Good knowledge about EGR systems and components and how the systems/components interact with the engine/vehicle
Understanding about how to validate features and durability for the system
Understand legal requirements for the system
Good understanding of system/component features, i.e. cost, performance, manufacturing and assembly, aftermarket and serviceability
Ability to design new systems including AE
Fluent in English both oral and written
Creative personality with ability to generate ideas, propose solutions and have visions for new systems
Good at net working in cross functional teams and communication skills
Good contacts with purchasers and suppliers are required
The responsibility includes Global Component responsibility (GCR) for EGR coolers and application engineering for EGR valves.
