All about the role:
The Global Director Cyber Defence is accountable for safeguarding the organization's information assets by leading all aspects of network security and managing the Security Operations Center (SOC). The function operates in a hybrid model, with both in-house capabilities and an outsourced partner.
This role is responsible for establishing and maintaining the right mix of people, processes, and technology to ensure effective prevention, detection, and response to cyber threats. A key focus is defining a target operating model, setting clear expectations for external providers, and ensuring seamless collaboration with internal teams.
The position requires a proven track record of building and leading cyber defence functions in complex environments.
What you will do:
Leadership and Strategy
Define and execute the cyber defence strategy in line with business objectives and risk appetite.
Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the network security and SOC operating model.
Provide thought leadership on emerging threats and evolving defence practices.
People and Organization
Build and manage an internal cyber defence team covering incident response, threat management, and vulnerability remediation.
Develop team skills, career paths, and succession planning.
Promote a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and resilience.
Processes
Establish and maintain incident response frameworks, playbooks, and escalation procedures.
Define measurable KPIs and metrics for SOC performance, detection rates, and incident resolution times.
Ensure governance and compliance with audit, forensic readiness, and reporting requirements.
Technology and Tools
Oversee deployment and optimization of security technologies including SIEM, SOAR, IDS/IPS, firewalls, endpoint security, and threat intelligence platforms.
Ensure visibility and protection across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
Continuously assess and recommend enhancements to the defence technology stack.
Outsourcing and Partner Management
Act as the senior point of contact for the outsourced SOC partner.
Define and enforce service levels, KPIs, and quality expectations.
Conduct regular performance reviews and joint exercises to drive improvement.
Ensure effective collaboration between internal teams and external providers during incidents.
Risk and Compliance
Align defence's with relevant standards and frameworks (NIST CSF, ISO 27001, GDPR, and local regulations).
Provide regular reporting on cyber defence posture, risks, and incidents to executive leadership and the board.
Lead root cause analysis and ensure lessons learned are translated into operational improvements.
Your competences:
Proven track record in a senior security architecture, engineering, or technology leadership role.
Strong expertise in Microsoft Security ecosystem (Microsoft E5 suite, Sentinel, Defender, Intune, Purview, etc.).
Demonstrated experience building and maturing SOCs (in-house or outsourced), including SIEM, SOAR, and endpoint detection.
Deep experience in cyber investigations, incident response, and digital forensics.
Established relationships with security industry networks, authorities, and regulatory bodies.
Solid background in IT infrastructure, cloud (Azure preferred), and modern enterprise technology stacks.
Experience managing technical requirements and performance of IT outsourcing partners.
Proven experience in mentoring, knowledge sharing, and developing junior security talent.
Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively between technical and non-technical audiences.

Experience
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, with at least 5 years in leadership roles in network security, SOC operations, or cyber defence.
Proven ability to manage hybrid models involving both in-house teams and outsourced providers.
Demonstrated success in leading large-scale incident response and crisis communication.
Technical Knowledge
Strong expertise in modern network security architecture, monitoring, and defence-in-depth principles.
Practical knowledge of SOC operations, incident response, threat hunting, and vulnerability management.
Familiarity with automation, orchestration, and advanced defence technologies.
Leadership Competencies
Skilled in people management, organizational design, and team development.
Experienced in vendor and partner management, including negotiation and governance.
Able to communicate effectively at both technical and executive levels.
Location
This is a full-time position, based at our Global Headquarters in Stockholm (Sweden). You will be part of a dynamic international team where English is the natural language.
