The Exterior department within Vehicle Hardware develops most of what you see on the outside of the car.
We are responsible for the entire process of engineering design of exterior systems such as Hood, front fenders, glass, bumpers & grilles, mouldings, lighting, and large injection moulded exterior plastic parts.
We have the development responsibility for Volvo car's all product families and the development work is done in close cooperation with our suppliers. Development activities are carried out mainly in Gothenburg.
You will work in a creative environment where tomorrow's cars are shaped. We work in flexible cross-functional teams tailored to development tasks. In the team we are working together, caring and helping each other. We have a wide interface that provides both an extensive network as well as very broad knowledge from various areas.
Main tasks and responsibility
As a Group Design Leader you are acting as a project manager, employed at vehicle hardware but with the responsibility to coordinate all areas in order to get the product all the way to serial production.
You will have the responsibility for one or several parts within Front Systems, which includes hood, front fender, hinges, hood latches, grille shutters and more. You will take active lead in the development of concepts and parts and independently drive your results. You are a skilled engineer in program management and used to handle suppliers and preferably dealing with visible parts with high attention to design or parts that has close customer impact.
We expect you to develop, monitor and update the relevant schedules of the tasks and assess whether the level of maturity of the components fulfil the purpose of the series.
You will anchor the decision, development and status with the responsible line manager and also be responsiblefor communicating goals, status and forecasts.
Required qualifications
• University degree in Mechanical engineering or similar.
• Analytical skills.
• Program management skills
• Fluent in English, written and spoken

• Structured and with a professional approach
• Openness to change
