We are looking to hire a Garment Designer that will play a vital role in our product development team - creating qualitative technical and casual outdoor garment!
What you'll do
The Garment Designer will design and develop functional, sustainable outdoor products that are aligned with Fjällräven's design philosophies. You will create designs that embrace the company's statement to be the most premium and sustainable global Outdoor Brand. The position will work with both technical and casual garments in collaboration with fellow designers, as well as a cross-functional product development team, and reports to the Product Development Manager. It's a full-time position based in Solna, Stockholm.
Main tasks and key responsibilities are:
Creating original designs based on function, following and developing the aesthetic of the Fjällräven brand.
Working with design briefs created on brand strategy, market input and a systematic garment approach as a basis for the design. While the responsibility to create the briefs is not mainly on the designer, it is expected that she/he will contribute to building of the range short and long term.
Taking part in defining sourcing and development of fabrics with the material department and concept team.
Taking part in creating color theme for each season, ensuring new colors match and complement the base colors in a good way.
Holding presentations at internal meetings as well as external events with e.g. customers or press.
Attending Trade Shows and company events.
Working closely with product developers & pattern makers to ensure wanted product functionality, fabric performance and fit is achieved.
Creating, updating and handling design documents in accordance to Fjällräven's templates and work flow.
Who you are
We think you would be a great match for the position if:
You have a degree in Design (Apparel, Industrial or Textile Engineering)
You have 5+ years of work experience in Design or equivalent.
You are brilliant in communicating in English, written and spoken.
You have demonstrated experience in the use of programs as: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
You have proven ability to create functional and commercial designs, as well as a profound knowledge of garment construction, patterns and textiles.
You are able to create functional and innovative solutions to challenges in garment design and function.
You are used to, and have a strong track record of delivering according to planned schedules and milestones in time.
You are knowledgeable of the outdoor market and products.
You are collaborative and comfortable with working in a team-based work structure.
You are self-propelled and motivated to initiate and generate action.
You are creative, solution-oriented and able to maintain a positive attitude at work.
You are keen to travel in work a few times a year.
You are passionate by sustainability and the outdoors.
