As game director, you are instrumental in creating and maintaining vision for the games you are working on and will work closely with the team on all parts. You will also have a hand in implementing the games, as well as ensuring quality and consistency across the design. The Game Director creates and owns the vision for gameplay mechanics, systems design and overall quality while making sure everyone is working together towards the same goal.
Responsibilities:
The main and routine tasks of the game director are to:
Be responsible for Game design direction and vision across the whole product
Work with the team to define a vision for projects and ensure the team is aligned with the vision at all times
Determine production priorities and eventual scope adjustments
Detail and communicate all game design elements to the team
Work closely with stakeholders to ensure that game direction meets expectations
Guide and support the team to ensure that the game systems answer the defined constraints and ultimately create the appropriate player experience for the target audience
Champion game projects internally and externally
Attend any implementation tasks as required from time to time
Qualifications
Relevant Experience:
Industry veteran that has shipped several titles in a leading design or director role
Inspiring leader with a proven track record of enabling game teams to achieve success
Approachable and diplomatic person who can delve into details without losing sight of the bigger picture
Effective communicator, skilled at reaching consensus in an interdisciplinary team of subject matter experts with an excellent command of English
Experienced game developer that has designed, developed, and shipped game features and/or systems on critically acclaimed games
Deep understanding of game development, from early concepts to post-launch support
Ability to support and develop the team's documentation and communication efforts, both internally and cross-discipline
Knowledge of iterative development and rapid prototyping
