hela Sverige Massive is looking for a game designer for one of its projects. As part of the design team you help form the central nervous system of the project, mastering not only the creative and visionary conception but also the collaborative and agile execution. One of the major responsibilities will be to help craft the human-to-computer user experience (through interface and menus) as well as the human-to-human social experience. This includes functionality such as friends systems, leaderboards, team (group) functionality and similar features in game. These features will also extend beyond the main game platforms into other platforms such as the social web and mobile devices.
Responsibilities
• Design social interactions across the entire user experience
• Create design documentation for programmers
• Interaction and coordination of implementation of systems
• Design core game systems (for instance damage system, level progression system, game modes, enemy types)
• Improve user interaction for a finished system (analyze and improve usability through flow, UI, sfx etc)
• Lead a task force comprised of various people (art, code etc) through the implementation of a feature (designed by you or someone else)
You as a candidate
You are a passionate gamer, and compulsively play games of almost all types on any platform you can get your hands on. We expect you to have quantitative and qualitative insight into everything from the simplest phone app to 100 hour core RPGs. You are analytical by nature and have a strong habit of deconstructing all games you play to find out what makes them particularly good, or bad. You can express yourself both verbally and in written form. You can communicate high level intent as well as technical details clearly. Communication and team play come naturally to you, and you excel at working in collaborative environments. You are well aware that not all gamers are motivated by or interested in the same things as you, even within a specific genre or type of product. You keep this in mind when designing features, always knowing what set or subset of players you are currently designing for. You are a social gamer that frequently plays online games in all forms. In your professional experience you have either worked directly with creating social apps or websites, or created features for these in console or PC games. In your spare time you explore new social applications and services.
Qualifications
• You are fluent in both written and spoken English
• You have extended knowledge of the social mechanics exhibited in the "Web 2.0" phenomenon
• You have a good understanding of the psychology behind social games
• You have a proven ability to work within agile teams
