Functional Safety Engineer

At RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers over the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. As FUNCTIONAL SAFETY ENGINEER within the group Diagnostics and Dependability you are responsible for the specification, feature development, optimization and verification of monitoring functions. The work is involved early in the development of new powertrain concepts and you will be challenged to find solutions that are both possible to monitor, meet the requirements for system safety and simultaneously have maximum robustness against sporadic disturbances. Your team is responsible for creating the technical system solutions, functional design and verification in full-scale test cars. When necessary, we arrange expeditions to various places in the world to test our hypotheses in severe environments and climate. You will realize your ideas through the development of functionality software in a number of embedded control systems.

Job profile:
• Requirement setting and follow up against suppliers
• Analysis and development of requirements for diagnostic monitoring software
• Evaluation and problem analysis
• Liaison with internal and external suppliers
• Plan and participate in expeditions.

Your profile:
• M.Sc. within Automotive, Electrical, Mechanical, Applied Physics or equivalent
• Experience of distributed, embedded control and monitoring systems
• Well developed knowledge of software algorithms and specifications
• Have the ability to work proactively and to independently set and achieve goals
• Excellent in English and Swedish, spoken and written
• Driving license
