The mission is to develop world-leading active safety systems, including self-driving vehicles and be an important contributor to the Volvo Cars vision that by nobody should be seriously injured or killed in new Volvo cars. The department Active Safety is responsible all the way from research and advanced engineering to implementation, verification and validation of current and future customer offers. We are strongly focused on our vision to make cars that do not crash.
Active Safety department consist of over 300 engineers and is responsible for the development and verification of Active & Passive Safety, Autonomous Drive and Vehicle Dynamics systems and functions. Within this area are we now recruiting a Functional Safety Architect for our Autonomous Driving program.
Main responsibilities
You will be a part of the rapidly growing Autonomous Drive Functional development team which is responsible for defining the Auto Pilot function and breaking down/allocating the technical solution to the sub functions and subsystems throughout the vehicle architecture. The team consists of a mix of Customer Function design developers, system developers, safety manager and testing and validation engineers. The team interacts and aligns with our external strategic partners, our many internal development teams as well as different suppliers for both ECU's and sensors.
Required qualifications
* BSc or MSc in Physics, Mechatronics, Mechanical engineering, Controls engineering, Electrical engineering or similar
* Minimum of 5 years of working experience in the Functional Safety Area
* Long experience of development of embedded systems in automotive industry, Strong in knowledge in working according to ISO 26262
* Experience with functional safety tools and methods
* Strong in communication and presentation skills (textual and verbal) - English fluent
Meritorious
* Long experience of developing functions and systems in vehicle dynamics area, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) or Autonomous driving
* Experience of Model based development
* Drivers license B
Personal qualification

* Long experience of developing functions and systems in vehicle dynamics area, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) or Autonomous driving
* Experience of Model based development
* Drivers license B

* You are strong in networking with other people and understand the value of a good laugh
* You are most likely passionate about safety and automotive industry
