The engine development department is the centre within Volvo CE for development of engines and auxiliary components for engines. The development responsibility consists of engine mechanical design, performance development and design of auxiliary components for engines. Today we are doing this development for Articulated Haulers, Excavators, Wheel Loaders and Road and Utility Machinery
We are now in a need of strengthen the department for Engine Auxiliary Systems (EAS) with a new colleague within the area of Product Maintenance
Functional project leader, Product maintenance and Cost reduction
The EAS department is looking for an ambitious HW-engineer to improve the field quality and cost of our components and systems.
Within this role you will be functional project leader of a team who works with quality and cost improvements of intake-, cooling-, exhaust- and fuel systems for Volvo CE engines. As a functional project leader, you will plan and lead the work of the product maintenance and cost team as well as your own work. Except the ability to plan the work done, we expect a high technical skill. The components and systems our product maintenance and cost team is working with are used on multiple Volvo CE products worldwide. Understanding different machines' need will therefore be essential in your daily work. In order to understand deviations from normal functions of our components and systems, tests and experiments to build knowledge will sometimes be needed that you perform.
We constantly work with improving our throughput time for quality improvement activities and you will be a part of improving the team?s efficiency. Yearly targets for cost improvements is also a part of the team's responsibility.
The work is carried out in close co-operation with other engine development departments, our different product platforms and external suppliers. Therefor a high ability and willingness to communicate with your internal customers and external suppliers is necessary in this role.
Qualifications for the work
• M.Sc or B.Sc in mechanical design work with >5 years experience
• High ability to build time plans and structure work as well as report progress of work
• Very high power of initiatives
• Interest for and knowledge of engines is seen as a merit
• High ability and willingness to communicate
• High knowledge in written and spoken English, since the work is done in an international environment
