Function realisation responsible (FFR)-System designer

The section Exhaust and Cooling system is located within department Powertrain installation. The Department have 18f people divided in Fuel, Cooling, Exhaust, Air intake and Engine suspension. Cooling system is divided in 2 groups, Inner cooling (engine mounted) and Outer cooling (C-shop mounted). We are responsible for all development of complete cooling system for Volvo cars all projects. Cooling system is a fundamental and a high focused area regards to thermal management and C02 reduction. Our work is in close cooperation with our suppliers and in the different car and engine projects. The groups are working close together and have the total responsibility for the complete cooling system.

As Function realisation responsible you will work mainly from PC to Job1 in close cooperation with our Function owner, test engineer, component responsible within Cooling system and other department within R&D. You will develop new, as well as maintain existing, software design for all functions regarding the cooling system. You will also coordinate and lead the team consisting of all the different roles needed for the function to be implemented fully; such as software implementer, calibration engineers, diagnostic engineers and test engineers. This teamwork reaches across several different departments within R&D and varies from project to project, both within Volvo Cars and with external partners. Stay up to date with the variations of system solutions and hardware that exists in the cooling system for different projects, powertrains and platforms.

Main responsibilities

* Requirement break down from top function requirements to requirements on the software details needed to fulfil the function
* Lead and coordinate the team working within your area and project from top function description down to production ready software in vehicle. This includes software implementation, calibration and verification
* Have an important role in developing existing functions and defining new ones
* Stay up to date with the variations of system solutions and hardware that exists in the cooling system for different projects, powertrains and platforms

Required qualification

* B.Sc. grade within electronic, physics, mechatronics, or a similar education or experience
* Experience from software development process within Volvo Cars R&D
* Understanding of Product Development processes
* Fluent in English, written and spoken
* Driving licence,B

Personal qualities

* Driving, structured, good analytical skills and a great technical interest
* High personal energy and abilities to take own initiatives with a drive being a "doer"
* Good in cooperation and communication, both verbal and written
* Good social skills to cooperate with other members/teams/organisations
* Customer focused
