Function developer, Thermal Management System


The engine control teams in the department Propulsion Controls & Calibration (PCC) are involved early in the development of new powertrain concepts and its software where we have a big impact on vehicle behavior. We develop solutions that both, meet legal requirements and give the customer an outstanding product. The teams create system solutions, functional design and perform verification on engines, in full-scale test cars, HIL and SIL's. We realize our ideas through the development of software functionality in a number of embedded control systems.

Vehicle Application is a group within the Engine Controls & Calibration section that consists of calibration engineers, function developers and a system team leader. We are responsible for the delivery of Thermal Management, Fuel Supply, Oil systems control, Heat protection and Sootload applications in hybrid, petrol and diesel engines. We are also a competence center for temperature models. We develop and calibrate related software. We do our work in different engine test cells located in our laboratory but also in vehicles on site and during expeditions to find extreme climates and altitudes. We use advanced programs for modelling and data processing for best end result.

We are now looking for a Function developer to strengthen our Thermal Management Team. Your role will be the most important in the step of building the function and not so much in the calibration phase. Due to highly self-driven role, we are looking for someone who is self-initiative and motivated to make a change.

Main responsibilities

You will work in a team with experienced engineers and at the same time have a clear area of responsibility. You will mainly have to cope with tasks below.
* Coordinate and prioritize thermal energy between different requesting parts
* Select most energy efficient way to generate heat or cold
* Summarize electrical power usage
* Summarize and estimate prediction of electrical power usage
* Act as a gathering point for all thermal related information
* Be closely involved with diagnostics when it comes to reconfiguration, etc.

Required qualifications

* B.Sc. in Mechanical engineering, Electrical or Mechatronic engineering or other equivalent field. Due to senior position, it is required to have relevant and at least five years of experience from the field. It is highly appreciated if you have some automotive experience and knowledge.
* Simulink/Python expertise
* Software development knowledge
* Fluent in English(written and spoken), Swedish is beneficial
* Driver's license "B", valid in EU and driving experience is mandatory, in order to attend and execute tests when necessary
* Experience of engine controls are meritorious
* Knowledge of thermodynamic systems is beneficial

Personal qualities

Due to high demand on coordinating with different departments, the position requires someone with the ability to work cross-functionally, have good communication and cooperation skills. You should be a self-driven person, with positive attitude, curious and strive to see "the whole picture". Further, we need you to have the pragmatic approach to solving problems. You are well-organized, structured and proactive.
