The department Active Safety & Vehicle Dynamics Functions is responsible for function and software development within the area. The department develops world leading functions within Driving Support, Collision Avoidance, Automated Drive and Vehicle Dynamics.
This position as a Function & Software Developer is within the Situation Assessment group. The responsibility of this group is to develop customer functionality that is not related to only one customer function. Instead, the goal is to create solutions that can be re-used for several different purposes. Examples of this are threat assessment, target selection and precautionary safety functionality. Information from all of these areas is needed for several customer functions. This position will mainly focus on the Connected Safety area, a new, emerging area that will grow a lot in the future. In this area we have a Volvo Cars cloud, which our cars are connected to in order to provide and receive information to/from other cars. The software for this cloud is developed in-house at Volvo Cars. You will work in a team that consists of members from our group, as well as members from our verification department. The team that you will be a part of is self-administered and uses agile work methods. This means that the team members cooperate in fulfilling the team deliveries.
Main responsibilities
• Develop functionality for Volvo Cars' Connected Safety Cloud. If possible, the developed functionality should be possible to share between several different customer functions
• When needed. develop specific solutions in order to provide the right customer functionality
• Since we develop the software for the cloud in-house at Volvo Cars, you will have a great opportunity to make a big impact on the perceived experience for our customers
• Work in all phases of the function and software development, from early specifications, function model development and automatic software generation & testing, to the product launch phase, including costumer quality validation
Required qualifications
• M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Computer Science, Automation or equivalent
• 2-5 years of work experience in function and/or software development
• Driver's License B
• Experience from high-level programming languages such as C/C++/C# or Java
• PhD within Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Computer Science, Automation or a similar area is meritorious
• Experience of developing functionality used in a cloud is an advantage
• Experience from development in Matlab/Simulink is meritorious as well as experience of Linux/Unix programming
• Experience of IBM Streams programming is meritorious
• Experience of web-related programming, including TCP/IP, web services, etc, will be an asset
