SCM Ventures is an internal startup incubator within Schibsted Classified Media. We have been focused on rolling out clones of the Blocket concept in many parts of the world and have during the last five years launched sites on more than 20 markets. Our mission going forward is not only to keep growing the Blocket family, but also to find and test new concepts to export in our new department New Ventures. SCM Ventures has about 20 employees, many with an international background, where the main part works with the existing ventures. For the New Ventures team we are now looking for our first developer to join.

You will work very closely with the business developers in the team, trying to test new concepts in a very lean way. You will be the only dedicated developer on this team and we therefore need you to be able to handle backend and frontend as well as sys admin tasks. You consider yourself to be an all-around software engineer, having skills and expertise in many different areas. We believe you have experience from the startup world (or equivalent) where you have had roles with broad responsibilities. We think you are a social person that likes to interact with people from different backgrounds and with different skills. Since you will be the only one coding on the team, you will need to be confident in being independent when working towards deadlines and structuring the time on your own. We are a group of people who enjoy coming to work and we consider our colleagues to be our friends. We like to hang out both during and after office hours, when we go training together or enjoy an after work on the rooftop. We believe that hard work is best accomplished when you enjoy a good laugh every now and then. Creativity, ambition, openness, and positivity are some of our most important values.

Expertise in:
Ruby on Rails or Django PostgreSQL MongoDB or Cassandra DB AngularJS or EmberJS HTML, CSS, JavaScript Git Being able to standalone carry on full-stack development workflow: Setting up virtual machines (AWS EC2, DigitalOcean etc) Configuring and maintaining DNS records Configuring web server stack and system stack depending on the framework used (RoR/Django) Configuring and optimizing database Profiling and optimizing server load Caring about user-interface and user-experience and optimizing page load speed to achieve best results Developing API in chosen backend framework (RoR/Django) Developing client-side business logic using chosen framework (AngularJS/EmberJS).

Bonus if you are familiar with:
Experience with scalable systems (for example using AWS).Docker. Vagrant. Chef. VMWare . Collaborative, team focused and independent at the same time . Fluency in spoken and written English
