Asthma and allergy research covering from epidemiological and clinical research to research on disease mechanisms.
Job assignments
The tasks include asthma and allergy research covering from epidemiological and clinical research to research on disease mechanisms.
Teaching will include mainly three components: teaching in the School of Medicine, supervision of PhD-students and of post docs, where the later include arranging courses for PhD-students and corresponding courses.
Participation in the Steering Committee of the Krefting Research Centre and leader for a research program within the centre. The position may include directorship of the centre.
In case of medical qualification (certificate from the Nordic countries or European Union and with language proficiency) a combined clinical position will be recommended, however this is not a mandatory requirement.
Eligibility
The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
Qualified to employment is someone with a PhD and proven scientific and teaching skills are required.

Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
As being an advanced research centre, highest priority will be given scientific skills in asthma and allergy research covering from epidemiological and clinical research to research on disease mechanisms. It is followed by, in this order: pedagogical skills, collaborative ability and administrative skills.
Experience to obtain condiderable research funding in national and international competition, outstanding scientific activities and publications in leading journals are of special merits. Specialist competence in lung medicine, allergology or related areas is also of special merit.
The successful applicant may also be asked to complete an educational training program within the first year of employment.
Institute of Medicine is one of the largest institutes at the University of Gothenburg. Education and research on major diseases in society is conducted at the institute. Krefting Research Centre (within the Department of Internal Medicine and Nutrition, Institute of Medicine) conducts today advanced research on asthma and allergy covering from epidemiological and clinical research to research on mechanisms of importance about the onset and progression of diseases in an international research environment. Of about 25 coworkers, more than a half are PhD-students, post docs and young researchers, and generally more than a half are coming from other countries than Sweden, from Japan and China in the east to USA in the west. Several researchers at the center have leading positions at international research organizations.
