Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.

Within the Engine development organisation at Scania R&D, Fuel system development and integration is carried out by an engineering team with deep technical knowledge of each individual component which combine to make the fuel system.

Overall responsibility for the fuel injection system lies with the group Fuel Injector Performance. This includes validation testing, simulation and hardware specific calibration. The injector plays a vital role in the overall efficiency of the engine and we therefore have a broad collaboration within engine and controls development as well as with the leading suppliers within fuel system technology. We have a unique collaboration with the Cummins Engine Company through the XPI Joint Venture, where we work together to develop the XPI fuel system.

Your Role
As a development engineer your overall responsibility is to lead the validation work required to integrate the fuel injection system in ongoing engine development projects with respect to performance, durability and design. Your day to day tasks will vary but will include the following:

• Working together with your calibration engineering colleague to coordinate and plan required testing activities on the injector test rigs, in the engine test cells, and on vehicle.
• Evaluating test results and working actively to resolve performance and product deviations.
• Responsibility for technical drawings, product structure and other design related tasks.
• Working with the supplier, ensuring that technical development plans are being fulfilled.
• Providing technical input on injector development to cross-functions within R&D, Purchasing, Service and Engine Production amongst others.
• Developing testing methods and updating design guidelines for injector validation.
• Support the development of new injector technology by initiating concept testing and evaluation at chosen prototype suppliers

You will be supported in all of these tasks by the rest of the team. We are an experienced group of engineers who work together, sharing knowledge to help each other meet our common goals.

Your Profile
You hold a Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering and have an interest in automotive engineering design and development. Experience from engine or controls development and experience working with design tools are a merit but not a necessity as we work actively with internal training. It is more important that you are a team player with a drive and willingness to learn and expand your knowledge within fuel systems technology. You should have good communication skills, be able to work pro-actively and be able to form good working relationships with a diverse range of functions within Scania. Since we collaborate with suppliers worldwide you should have an excellent command of both English and Swedish.

In return, we can offer you a stimulating work environment with excellent opportunities for growth and development within Scania R&D.
