The Fuel Cell Testing & Components group within Powertrain Strategic Development is looking for a Fuel Cell Material Lead Engineer with expertize in Fuel Cell Catalyst Coated Membrane (CCM) and Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) technology.

At Powertrain Strategic Development we lead technology strategy and contribute to business strategy for new Powertrain solutions. We are the center of development and expertize of Hydrogen solutions and acting as the Powertrain Product owner of Hydrogen products within the Volvo Group. We also explore new Powertrain technologies and build strategic knowledge with research centers, universities, suppliers and other Volvo organizations globally. We constantly follow the latest technology trends within the automotive industry and share the findings within the department.

The Fuel Cell Testing & Components group consists of a team of dedicated experts that are responsible for ensuring capabilities and operation of virtual and physical testing of Fuel Cell systems and related components. We have high expertize in Fuel Cell components and subsystems and engage in research of forefront Fuel Cell technologies.

Job description

As a Fuel Cell Materials Lead Engineer you will lead the activities connected to testing and characterization of Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) and other materials technologies for automotive fuel cell systems. You will contribute to defining and implementing state-of-art experimental techniques for testing and characterization methods. You will also analyze the experimental data and identify cause-effect relationships between design and performance or durability in close collaboration with simulation and control experts.
Another part of the role is to coordinate the cooperation with the research community. You will participate in activities to define the long-term technology roadmap.

Qualifications:
Ph.D. in relevant engineering field
Autonomous and with competence to run and evaluate tests
Deep knowledge about Fuel Cell MEA & CCM technology
Working experience in experimental testing and characterization of Fuel Cell MEA, CCM & related materials
Deep knowledge about electrochemical material technology and characterization techniques
Good ability to establish collaboration with research community
Adaptable to changes in your environment and able to manage ambiguity & complexity
Fluent in English, written and spoken
