Your workplace
Security and Defence Solutions, a business area of Saab, offers command and control systems, airborne early warning systems, civil security systems and solutions, training and simulation, as well as telecom carrier.
At the division for Communication Systems, we develop software based products and solutions for land-, naval- and airbased military communication systems. The department for communication development is located in Järfälla and Linköping. With Software Defined Radio (SDR) and Networking technologies as a base we do product development and research. Presently we are involved in several exciting projects with international stakeholders and are looking for skilled engineers and researchers to our site in Järfälla.
Your role
The FPGA Design Engineer will develop and maintain FPGA functional blocks for Software Defined Radio applications especially the Physical Layer of Radio (PHY) including handling of high speed Baseband samples and controlling the RF subsystem. Building strong collaborations with SW engineers in the SW development team. You will have the ability to design, document, prototype and debug embedded systems, work closely with system architects on new methods and algorithms, interface with internal and external devices, and fulfil project requirements.
More specifically, you will have to describe the design in VHDL following Altera Design Methodology, do the simulation, synthesize and floorplaning. Finally, you will have to test and verify the FPGA design to make sure they will properly integrate (hardware and software) in the product.
Your qualifications
You are MSc Engineer, preferably with some years of experience. You enjoy working in groups but can also work independently.
• Experience with VHDL and Altera FPGAs using Altera Tools (Quartus II).
• Experience with Incremental Design Methodology supporting Hierarchical and Team-Based Design.
• Practical knowledge of FPGA verification methodologies and timing analysis.
• Practical knowledge of simulation, synthesis, and floorplaning.
• Knowledge of high speed interface between FPGA and hardware subsystems.
• Digital Signal Processing, Digital Filters and Digital Modulation.
• Debugging with JTAG scan emulator, Oscilloscopes and Digital Analyser.
• Modelling using Matlab & Simulink would be an advantage but is not essential.
