HIL Engineer - Vehicle and Systems Testing

Vehicle and Systems Testing is a section within the department A&V Environments & BRAVe. Our main purpose is to operate and develop the departments test beds within; Engine Testing, Powertrain Testing, Climate&Aero Testing, Chassi Dyno Testing and Emission Testing. Our responsible is to provide R&D with test beds and test equipment system in accordance with R&D needs with agreed solutions for capability and capacity over time.

As Hardware in the loop (HIL) engineer at Vehicle and Systems Testing within the group Methodology, you are responsible for leading the work with developing HIL environment in our system test beds. The responsibilities also include development and documentation of HIL models. As part of our expanding team you will be working in a creative environment shaping tomorrow's engines and virtual methods.

Your challenge is to develop and implement HIL simulation processes and models in system test beds. You will work in cross functional teams with other groups within the Laboratory and with our internal customers at R&D. Your technical competence, as well as your ability to manage projects and teams, should be strong so that you can make your own decisions and technical conclusions. Your mindset should be analytic and with an aim of finding solutions.

Main responsibilities

• Responsible for implementing HIL simulation processes in system test beds
• Optimisation of simulation performance in system test beds
• Model development and validation of models
• Process and method development regarding HIL systems
• Implementing and adapting test object models in HIL systems
• Developing electrical interface between test object control units and the HIL system
• Developing signal interface between HIL system and test bed automation system
• Develop and maintain a personal network with simulation community within VCC R&D
• Plan and manage HIL activities through a cross functional team
• Document HIL processes and models within system test beds area
• Participate in development of testing methods
• Conduct problem solving investigation when required

Required qualifications

• Ms Sc in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent with emphasis in vehicle and driveline CAE/HIL experience
• Proficient in dynamic modeling using Matlab/Simulink, IPG CARMAKER, Dymola, or similar simulation tools
• Knowledge in dSPACE systems
• Knowledge in CAN communication and control units in vehicle electrical system
• Experience in the technical area of simulation
• Knowledge within engine testing and test bed automation systems is meritorious
• Experience from setting up test sequences and analysis of test results
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
