The Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences is one of the university's largest departments, with operations mainly in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Our aim is to engage in medical and biomedical education and research of high international standing. Your future work assignments
Your tasks will consist of:
• establish and test bioinformatics work flows that combine data captured from multiple levels of gene expression
• apply your bioinformatics work flows to data obtained from multiple cell types from the Tagger mouse line
• train and/or assist group members in biochemical purifications of multiple levels of nucleic acids, from brain tissues using methods including immunoprecipitation and fluorescence activated cell sorting
Your future workplace
You will work in Walker Jackson's research group at the Division of Neurobiology.
Your qualifications
We are looking for someone who has a PhD and minimum six years experience working in an academic laboratory after the PhD.
You need experience in:
• designing, genetic engineering and testing of gene-targeted mice with complex transgenes
• biochemical purifications of nucleic acids with immunocapture methods (e.g. RIboTag)
• fluorescent activated cell sorting
• handling of living mice and knowledge of rodent neuroanatomy
• extraction of tissues (especially brain) from mice
You also need to have experience working in a prion containment lab and bioinformatics expertise for cell type specific expression in mouse brains.
You should be able to talk and write English at an excellent level and have basic knowledge in Swedish.
Experience of behavioural studies with mice and immunofluorescence microscopy of brain sections is seen as meriting.
You work well with complex issues and have the ability to spend energy and commitment to your work. You set high goals and actively seek new challenges at work. You have good oral communication and are a knowledge resource for others.
