Your workplace
Aeronautics, a business area of Saab, offers advanced airborne systems, related subsystems, unmanned aerial systems, aerostructures and services to defence customers and commercial aerospace industries worldwide. Aeronautics is also responsible for development, production, marketing, selling and supporting of the Gripen fighter.
In the flight test section Sensor and Weapon Systems, which belongs to department Flight Testing and Verification, we are about 20 persons working with testing across a wide technical area including sensors, weapons, navigation systems and decision support functions.
Your role
As a test engineer you plan, manage, perform and report the testing. You will initially work with sensor testing in JAS39 Gripen. Working closely with systems engineers and pilots you are planning the testing with the user’s vision into focus. The tests are then performed in simulators, rigs and aircrafts according to planned test cases. Registered data are analyzed in Matlab and the results are compiled in a report.
As a test engineer, it's up to you to get tasks done which requires flexibility, commitment and leadership skills. The work is very outgoing when testing is done in collaboration with development engineers, project managers, pilots, contractors and customers. Working as a test engineer is a stimulating mix of theory and practice where you are engaged in the entire development process from design to finished product at the customer. Travels abroad can be required since some of the tests are performed at the customer.
As a new employee you will be participating in our training program to become an authorized test engineer. At the Flight Test and Verification Department we aim for our test engineers to have broad system test knowledge, therefore a broadening towards other tactical systems will be topical hindsight.
Your qualifications
You should have good analytical skills, experience with Matlab as analytical tools is a plus. Being able to work both practically and theoretically as well as being able to work independently and in groups are sought after properties. You can express yourself well in speech and writing in both Swedish and English. Appropriate background for this position is Bachelor or Master of Science.
