Operational Duties:
• Familiarize himself and understand the Diesel Electrical Propulsion system.
• Know all about the ships Emergency and Safety Systems.
• Be familiar with the operation of the emergency generator and how to manual start if needed. Operation of the main switchboard, synchronizing of the generators, ability to bring power back to the ship after a complete blackout.
• Location of all the major distribution panels, in order to be able to shut down power in the event of a failure, i.e., fire and or maintenance work.
• First Electrical Engineer will work closely with the vessel's Electronic Engineer.
• First Electrical Engineer may be part of a watch going system on a rotational basis.
• First Electrical Engineer must familiarize himself with the vessel's elevators/lifts.
• Checking and maintenance of all electrical equipment as directed by the Chief Electrical Engineer.
• The First Electrical Engineer must be familiar with the safety routines that are in place before any maintenance/repair work commences, especially in high voltage systems.
• The First Electrical Engineer must inform the Duty Engineer before starting any maintenance work that may affect the operation of the various vessel systems.
• Write a hand over report for your relief.
• Be familiar with Seabourn Health, Environmental, Safety and Security Policy and the SMS2008, and carry out the policies and procedures as appropriate to their position (Also his responsibilities in the Safety organization according to the Emergency plan and station bill).
• Responsible for ensuring that personnel under his supervision are aware of Seabourn Health, Environmental , Safety and Security Policy and the SMS2008, as it apply to their positions.
Required Qualifications:
• Possess a diploma from an international recognized trade school or university as ship's electrician.
• Must hold and Electrician Certificate and have a High Voltage Certificate and other appropriate licenses and certificates as required by regulations.
• Seafarer's book
• Basic Safety Training STCW 95 A VI/1-1 till 1-4
• Survival Craft and Rescue Boat STCW 95 A-VI/2-1
• Police Background Check
• Good English language skills
• Valid Medical Certificate
