The Field Application Scientist is responsible for the application support of all Takara Bio Europe (TBE) Automation platforms and their associated chemistries. The position can be either in Takara Bio Europe office in Paris/Gothenburg or home-office based and will require an average of 50% travel within EMEA.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
• Provides post-sales training at customer site and works with sales team to maintain long term relationship with customer.
• Provides troubleshooting support to customers in the field or by phone/email.
• Resolves and/or escalates customer issues and complaints.
• Provides pre-sales support by working in partnership with the sales team. Provides technical product seminars, conducts product demonstrations and consults one-on-one with customers to understand scientific objectives and help close orders.
• Supports technical training for sales team.
• Collaborates with commercial teams to develop technical selling strategies.
• Provides regular updates on success and improvements required for increased field adoption.
• Supports sales placements in the field through on-site visits and telephone communication.
• Coordinates cross-functional meetings for significant situations that require unique and/or urgent response from customer facing team members.
• Maintains company CRM database, documents all technical communications and customer interactions daily.
Requirements
• MS/PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry or related scientific field. A BA or BS may be considered with significant field experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of laboratory or related work experience.
• Understanding of single-cell genomics, Next Generation Sequencing and qPCR applications.
• Prior molecular cell biology experience skills are extremely desirable.
• Prior automation experience skills are extremely desirable.
• Experience in RNA and DNA library construction for NGS a plus.
• Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Capable of working independently, is self-motivated and proactive.
• Is customer-centric and keenly aware of markets, trends and competitors.
• Demonstrates a sense of urgency, contagious optimism and a "can do" attitude.
• Knowledge of German or French a plus.
• Valid driver's license is required.
