Symcel is a Swedish medtech company that develops and sells an analytical instrument for measuring cell metabolism with high sensitivity. We are located at Karolinska Institute campus in Solna with modern facilities including sales, marketing, production and R&D labs.
Symcel is home to a mix of business drivers and scientists. All with the common aim to bring our technology to use for tackling some of the world's most acute health challenges. This includes finding novel treatments for cancer and antibiotic-resistant bacteria and gaining a deeper understanding of metabolic diseases. We are an international team of 15 full-time employees and quickly expanding. Our working language is English.
We have early traction on international R&D markets with strong support from top KOLs and around 20 scientific papers published. Customer are researchers in academia and industry that use our real-time in-vitro measurements of cell metabolism in a wide range of new assays within microbiology and cell biology.

We are looking to strengthen our team with an Field Application Scientist, with a strong background in preferentially cell metabolism.
You will be a vital part of the R&D Applications team contributing to the development of new calorimetry applications and working closely with customers on their projects. We are looking for a motivated scientific expert that is enthusiastic about supporting other scientists using our technology and has a learning mindset to continuously expand his/her knowledge in the different areas we cover. You are an adaptable person that thrives taking on challenges of different nature, has excellent communication skills and is good at establishing collaborative working relationships within cross-functional teams.
Key responsibilities:
Help customers conduct microcalorimetry experiments. Maximise their success by assisting with experimental design, implementation, analysis, and interpretation of results.
Provide technical training and support to costumers pre- and post-sale.
Work closely with Sales& Marketing to improve existing application materials and develop new ones.
Communicate and provide feedback to internal stakeholders (R&D, PM, Marketing) to align product development with market needs.
Participate in the development of new products ideas, including supporting materials as well as feasibility testing.
Essential for the role:
PhD in a Biological Sciences discipline, preferably with a large focus on cell metabolism
Minimum 3 years' experience working in a biotech or medtech company
Strong data analyses and presentation skills
Strong customer focus
Highly proficient in spoken and written English
Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong collaboration mindset
Ability to travel 30 - 40 % of the time.
Desirable for the role:
Industry experience as a field application scientist or technical scientist
Previous experience with the development of IVD assays
Previous work within cell metabolism or calorimetric methods
Technical customer support or application development experience
