• Perform fermentation experiments in shake flasks and in lab-scale
fermentation equipment using lignocellulose derived material as substrate and quantitatively evaluate the results.
• Develop propagation schemes for Taurus strains suitable for large scale applications.
• Design and optimize fermentation strategies and configurations using
Taurus' strains.
• Design control strategies for the bioprocesses using measured parameters.
• Take part in contact and communications with customers and different collaborators.
• Documentation and reporting.
Requirements:
You should hold a PhD in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering or similar OR a MSc in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering or similar with minimum 5 years of prior laboratory experience in fields of relevance for this position. We expect independent experience with:
• Microbiology, including experience with strain culturing, isolation,preservation and characterisation.
• Yeast fermentation and profound understanding of yeast physiology.
• Laboratory-scale bioreactors and instrumentation.
• Fermentation analytics, including HPLC, gas analysis and dry weight determination.
• Quantitative evaluation of lignocellulosic fermentations.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-driven, communicative, collaborative
person that is able to handle many contacts. We expect you to be well-expressed in oral and written English. Swedish knowledge is desired but no absolute requirement. Experience in driving projects independently from project formulation to reporting is considered a merit.
The working place will be in Gothenburg, but for periods you may be located elsewhere.
