The World Maritime University is seeking a positive, productive, adaptable and responsible administrative professional to join the University as a:
Faculty Assistant/Faculty Support Officer/Faculty Specialist
Duties
Under the overall supervision of the Associate Academic Dean of WMU the post-holder is expected to provide administrative and IT support for the activities of the University?s Masters, Postgraduate Diplomas, Executive & Professional Development, and Open Online e-learning (distance-learning and blended-learning) programmes. As assistant to above relevant programmes at WMU, the post-holder is expected to assist in keeping WMU positioned as an academic institution of excellence and help advance the institution and its reputation.
Specific duties for the Faculty Assistant include the functions indicated below:
• Provide support to relevant faculty and staff with the operational planning, development and implementation of e-learning (distance-learning and blended-learning) programmes;
• Administrate and coordinate the University?s e-learning framework and Learning Management Systems and their related functions;
• Work with relevant managers, committees and other staff and university-assigned external partners to ensure that the e-learning framework is capable of meeting the goals set by the University;
• Provide and coordinate training of staff and students when requested;
• Keep programme records and prepare yearly reports and budgets;
• Keep records of e-learning exams and assignments for External Examiners;
• Coordinate student dissertations in e-learning programmes;
• Assist with the invigilation of examinations when necessary;
• Coordinate, handle and distribute student examination papers/assignments, assessments and textbooks to the students in an e-learning framework;
• Carry out the administrative and secretarial duties necessary for the administration of the e-learning Masters, Diplomas and Executive & Professional programmes, i.e. prepare and organize correspondence in English, including emails, faxes and telephone calls; arrange meetings, appointments and prepare minutes; maintain records and organize filing/data systems electronically and associated functions; assemble and distribute relevant documentation, including academic documents;
• Being in charge of the completion of e-learning documentation in the archives;
• Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications
Candidates should:
Have a University degree (BA/BSc) in an IT or related field (postgraduate Masters degree desirable)
Have at least three years of work experience in e-learning, Distance-Learning and Learning Management Systems (desirable in higher education academic environments)
Have strong IT skills (e-learning, audio/video editing, live streaming, pre-recorded content)
Be completely fluent in spoken and written English
Have experience of responsibility for budgeting and reporting tasks
Be pro-active and have the ability to work effectively and accurately with little guidance and supervision
