hela Sverige In a world of change and environmental challenges, with exciting innovative technologies and rapidly changing customer requirements, we are now hiring a Group Manager for our Expert Design team. The team consists of Color & Material Designers, Graphic Designers and Design Quality Specialists, supporting all business areas within Volvo Group - Volvo Trucks, Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Bus, Volvo Penta, and Volvo Energy - as well as creating innovative solutions for shared brand platforms.
As the leader of this team, you are a valuable member of our management team forming the Design department for the future.
This is how you could make an impact
In this role your main task will be leading a high performing team culture and efficient cross functional collaboration to create attractive design solutions for the future competitiveness of Volvo products and services. As we are in an expansive phase, attracting and developing talent will be your responsibility. You will also build product and customer expertise by promoting and supporting your team to constantly find new inspiration across the business areas. You will frequently interact with our sister studios in France and the US as well as other product development functions to secure smooth cooperation and high-quality design deliveries.
Other responsibilities within the role are:
Deliver high quality designs meeting the expectations of the Volvo Design Directors
Deliver brand platform designs meeting future brand customer needs and expectations
Contribute to, communicate, and deliver on our design strategic targets
Pro-active planning, communication, and coordination of tasks/priorities within the team
Drive continuous improvements
Deliver on operational expense budget
You will report directly to the Volvo Group Design Site GOT Director.

You have a structured approach; you can quickly find common ground and solutions, and you make your recommendations and decisions based on qualitative facts. You are an inspiring leader and a strong communicator who can bring a clear message to your team and surrounding stakeholders. You are experienced in design methodologies in general but specifically within the competence areas of the team to coach, develop and advocate the design processes all the way from advanced conceptual designs to production.
Other requirements for the role are:
Minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent in relevant area of Design, Master's degree is a bonus
Several years of design industry experience from either Automotive, Transportation, Architecture, or equivalent
Documented Design leader experience
Design thinking/Service Design knowledge - ability to foster the discipline
Design process and tool knowledge
Product and application knowledge is a bonus

The role is based in Gothenburg, Sweden at Volvo Group Design in Lundby, currently consisting of about 150 talented people and planning to reach 200 beginning of 2023.
