Mobile broadband systems are established throughout the world today. Ericsson is the world leading supplier of equipment which runs mobile broadband networks. Many hundreds of millions of mobile devices and phones rely on the networks we are developing. This is Ericsson's most profitable and fastest growing segment, with a large demand for new functionality, faster data transfer rates etc.
Systems and Technology is a unit within Development Unit Radio (DURA). DURA is the Ericsson unit which develops hardware and software for our mobile radio products. Systems and Technology works with research in developing, testing and prototyping the future standards and technology for these products. We secure future technology leadership!
People to Work with Software for Mobile Radio Products
Did you know that in terms of revenue, Ericsson is the fifth largest Software Company in the word today?
The by far largest part of the work we do to develop our products is software. Ericsson has several thousand people working world wide in this area! In order to maintain our world leading position in this area we need to continuously evaluate and use "leading edge" software technology for developing and testing our products. For this reason we are now recruiting more people in software to work in the Systems and Technology Unit.
The software DURA develops is highly concurrent and comprises
• embedded low level baseband software for network processors, FPGAs, DSPs etc
• embedded control system / operation & maintenance software on "standard" processors
• operational control systems running on standard work stations with graphical user interfaces.
One of the areas where we are currently recruiting is low level baseband software. Important aspects in this area are
• performance (cache optimization etc)
• compiler technology, memory optimization,
• generation of code from domain specific languages
• testability
• robustness.
Another area is embedded control systems, which is in fact the area where we have most software (millions of lines of code). Important here is
• development efficiency
• error tolerance
• performance
• testability
Increasing the abstraction level of our software development is a key aspect of the above and we are looking into modeling techniques and the use of functional programming languages.
Qualifications
The researchers we need should have PhDs in computer science or equivalent documented experience. We are looking for people who can combine theoretical aptitude with practical ability. I.e. you must be able both to have ideas and to implement them as well. If you are not passionate about practical programming, testing etc, don't apply for these jobs.
