The role
We are currently looking for an experienced design engineer to become an important part of our R&D team within cable accessories. NKT has the ambition to renew and trim existing product portfolios and your contribution in this will be to work with design engineering/CAD work and participate in laboratory work and installation trials for MV-AC, HV-AC and HV-DC accessories.
The position is based in Alingsås but the role also involves some travelling, approximately 20-40 days per year, both domestic and international.
Main tasks
• Development of technologies for MV-AC, HV-AC and HV-DC accessories
• Perform design engineering task within scope of R&D projects
• Support the business with questions related to product design
• Supporting testing of cable systems according to national, international and/or customer standards
• Defining technical work packages, milestones and steps in development projects
• Defining development tests
• Manufacturing process optimization
• Development of new test methods
• Handover of design of developed product to engineering and operations
• Root cause analysis of problems
• Technical support for investigation of customer claims
Your profile and qualifications
We expect that you have a MSc. degree in (mechanical) engineering and have a vast experience (5-10 years) in the field of design engineering, preferably in a R&D environment. You speak and write English and Swedish fluently and it is a merit if you also know German and/or Danish. You are used to work with SolidWorks or similar software and have experience working with PDM/PLM systems.
To match this role you have to be an analytical thinker and a systematic problem solver. You have an open mindset, seeking input from others and have the ability to see connections between own research and previous studies. You are a responsible person who is used to work independently as well as in multidisciplinary teams and you enjoy both ways. Your personality is enthusiastic and thorough and even though you meet obstacles and set-backs you perseveres.
