Avalanche Studios* is an award-winning developer of epic open-world action games based in Stockholm, Sweden. The company was founded in early 2003 and was rapidly established as one of the most progressive games developers in the Nordic region. With a strong focus on open-world action games based on the acclaimed Avalanche Engine*, the company’s first product Just Cause was announced in early 2004 and released in September 2006. Just Cause was critically acclaimed and has sold a million units world-wide. The sequel to Just Cause was released in 2010 and has received raving reviews.
Avalanche Studios are focusing on innovative design in both technology and game design. To help us maintain our cutting edge in these areas we have specially assigned R&D teams to address specific issues.
As an Avalanche employee you work as part of a cross functional team together with some of the most talented and experienced individuals in the gaming industry. The studio is currently in development of two projects based on very well-known licenses and a XBLA/PSN project based on an Avalanche Studios original IP. Our goal is to maintain and strengthen our leading position as a developer of open-world action games.
At Avalanche Studios, we are truly passionate about games development, but we realize that game developers have lives too. Avalanche Studios is an independent, privately held developer.
We require experienced programmers with at least 3 years of development experience for current generation consoles. This is a position within one of several high profile unannounced AAA titles, for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, with some of the world’s most distinguished publishers.
The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated individual who is good at communicating and working within cross-discipline teams. The candidate should also have the ability to plan and carry out programming tasks to required levels of quality and on time.
Experience we consider valuable includes: distributed programming for consoles, low-level programming, profiling / optimization, streaming / resource management, graphics, sound, tools, network programming, build systems, compiler pipelines, scripting (python or similar).
