Volvo Group's mission is to drive prosperity through transport solutions. Our customers bring goods to every corner of the world and people to their workplaces or families. But with increasing transportation comes the need to minimize the environmental impact through high-tech innovations.

Our group, EATS control (Exhaust AfterTreatment System), are responsible for all the software functions in the aftertreatment system. With new concepts, new CO2-demands and emission legislation, our group develops new innovative emission control solutions, as well as monitors, virtual sensors and diagnostics. With our understanding of the real-life performance of the EATS system in our customers operation, we will design the best solutions for robust and effective functionalities.

Work description:
As an OBD software application engineer you will be part of many aspects of development and implementation of embedded software functions. You and the team will understand the legal and customer requirements, and will design robust software solutions. The work involves the entire chain; from early concept development to maintaining our functionality in our production fleet. A working day can be both software development in front of the computer, as well as driving a truck, testing your developed functionality! Working with OBD you will also deal with statistics, DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes), understanding adequate statistical separation.

We work in teams of 5-7 colleagues with complementary skills committed to a common purpose. Every team plan their work in 3 week sprints and deliver solutions together as a team. We mostly use the graphical programing tool, Simulink/Targetlink, but knowledge in m-scripting, and C programming is useful to understand and improve our software architecture and testing framework.

Responsibilities and tasks will be:
Break down of requirements from certification and other stakeholders. Analyse and design robust control strategies to meet OBD regulation and accurate fault detection
Analyse, design, implement and verify EATS OBD control strategies in software using Targetlink
Document functionality; write Monitor Descriptions and Repair and Maintenance Information
Participate in system engineering work supporting the EATS product, together with Quality and Customer Satisfaction, Calibration- and Aftermarket Engineers
Inspect and adapt regarding procedures and processes, e.g. for automated and manual verification tests or for software function development
Participation in networks, joining certification engineers and specialists to cascade information from OBD related activities in the company affecting team
